Importance of Studying God’s Word
“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9
Hello everyone! I love the scripture verse above! God is looking for someone to bless! I don’t know about you, but I’ve got my hand up saying, “Lord, please choose me!” So, what about you? Are you seeking to get your heart and mind to agree that you need to be perfect toward Him so that He will show Himself strong in your situation?
How do we get our heart and mind to agree with God? By studying His word! Not by reading bible study devotionals. Not by going solely off of what the preacher or teacher said. Not by simply reading His word. No, we need to “study” His word and “ponder” or “meditate” His word in our hearts and minds, allowing the Holy Spirit to teach us what it is that God is saying to us – right now. Because He is a right now God!
Come to His word with an open slate saying, “Holy Spirit, teach me.” We should never go to God’s word with our own erroneous ideas about His holiness. We should never try to find scripture that supports our belief system BUT RATHER find God’s truths that change our minds about our belief system. We are to become more like Him everyday… but He will not force us to do so. We must be humble and willing for Him to teach us His Kingdom mysteries, precept upon precept. And always remember, we shouldn’t base our faith in God on our experiences, we should base our faith in God on His word.
