Importance of Daily Quiet Time

“In the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed to a solitary place, and there prayed.”  Mark 1: 35

“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to the Father which is in secret, and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” Matthew 6:6

Jesus prayed while he was here in flesh and gave us an example of when, where and how.  We need to get up early enough to spend quiet time with Him, by reading His Word and praying. You need a quiet place (same place every day when at home) to spend time with God on your own. He knows if we wait until the middle of the day, or the evening, that we will be so full of the world’s distractions and problems, we will either not do it or will have difficulty settling down enough to hear Him.

Spending time with God should be a priority.  It cannot be a last resort to a sticky situation.  In order to have an intimate relationship with Jesus, we must get to know Him.  Think back to the time you met your best friend.  Did you tell him/her your deep dark secrets the first day?  Did you feel comfortable letting your friend see your weaknesses?  Of course not!  It took time for you to open up.  It took time for you to build trust and to love that person.  That is the very reason you must spend time with God.

As you read God’s Word, you learn who He is and what He did for you.  As your relationship with Him grows, your faith in Him grows as well.  How can you expect to trust Him to carry you during the trials of life if you know nothing about Him?  My friend, reading and studying God’s word helps you to build a relationship that will change your life forever!

Reading God’s Word provides protection from the enemy!  It is our first line of defense.  When you pray, read, study, and memorize scripture, you are armoring yourself with God’s armor.  The Bible says that the devil comes to kill, steal, and destroy.  When we fail to put God first and spend time with Him, we give the enemy an open invitation to ruin our day.  Filling our hearts and minds with God’s Word sends the enemy running!

We encourage you to find time each morning to spend with God.  We are confident that this commitment and dedication will provide positive results.  Results that are like no other.  Continue to the next section for guidance on “How to Have a Daily Quiet Time”.  (***Have a link to the How to Have a Daily Quiet Time)
