Transitional Housing

Transitioning to Triumph

Imagine for a moment what it would be like to start your life over with no means of financial support or personal guidance. Maybe you don’t even have a valid ID or vehicle. Sound difficult? That’s what many of our clients are facing when they attempt to reintegrate into society after incarceration or recovery from substance abuse. Many of these individuals have no choice but to return to their former environments without a way forward. And sadly, many return to substance abuse or are rearrested.

Transition to Triumph Housing

The Safer Communities Ministry offers a range of resources, services, and programs to support reentry. One such program is Transition to Triumph (T3). The program provides structured housing, intensive oversight, and comprehensive support services. The ultimate goal is to break the cycle of recidivism (rearrests) and relapse by guiding tenants toward financial literacy, stable employment, and independent, sustainable housing.

Tenants participate in a variety of programs designed to fully prepare them for reintegrating into society.

There are four key program components:

Individual Goal Planning

Case managers help tenants to develop tailored Independent Living Plans (ILPs), focused on legal, financial, and personal recovery goals. Tenants are also connected to vital county resources, social services, and community programs.

Clinical Care & Peer Support

We partner with local certified licensed providers for intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and mental health counseling if needed. Certified Peer Support Specialists offer mentorship rooted in shared life experiences, and tenants have access to Celebrate Recovery meetings and additional personal growth workshops.

Employment & Financial Literacy

Our staff works with regional employers to fast-track tenant employment and provides résumé workshops, interview preparation, and assistance with professional attire. Tenants also participate in mandatory classes covering budget management, credit repair, and automated savings.

Transportation & Barrier Reduction

We provide reliable transportation to job sites, grocery stores, healthcare appointments, probation meetings, and court dates. We also assist tenants in securing valid NC IDs, drivers’ licenses, and Social Security cards.

Next Steps

The ultimate goal is for tenants to “graduate.” They must have at least 90 days of sobriety, stable employment, an emergency fund, and sustainable independent housing. We work with local landlords and statewide housing organizations to help tenants secure housing.
